“If I ever go looking for my heart’s desire again, I won’t look any further than my own backyard...” - Dorothy Gale
The 1939 fantasy film, The Wizard of Oz (original production design by William A. Horing, Jack Martin Smith and Malcolm Brown) is so near and dear to my heart. This was commissioned as a gift for the father of the bride from his daughter. I really loved building this mini with the idea of home and coming full circle. It was amazing to find some continuity shots used in the making of the original film for reference. They gave me immense help in figuring out the farm equipment and other small details.
This miniature was built on ballbearings to allow it to spin from the farm scene to Munchkinland.
