ANTHONY FREITAS
SCENIC DESIGN | MINIATURES
WELCOME!
I'm Anthony Freitas, a dedicated scenic designer and artist with a passion for bringing stories to life. I grew up in New Bedford, Massachusetts and went on to study scenic design at Wagner College. I have been working in the field for over a decade and have had the privilege of working with many acclaimed designers as an assistant and associate. I now reside in New York City.
Throughout my work, I have had a special interest in educational theater and have worked with schools and educational programs throughout the tri-state area. In 2019 and 2023, alongside the students of Madison High School, I won the Papermill Rising Star Award in scenic achievement for designing their productions of Bright Star and Little Women respectively. It has been a joy working beside the next generation of theater artists and helping them pursue their creative endeavors.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, my work in theater was put on hold, so I decided to further explore my passion for crafting miniatures. Since staring this venture, I have constructed many designs of my own and have also taken on commissions. In late 2021, my alma mater tasked me to create some miniatures that embodied Covid’s loss of live performance. These miniatures were featured within the article “A Light That Never Goes Out” in the Winter 2022 Wagner College magazine.
